The biggest problem with plastic surgery gone wrong is the fact that it can have a severely damaging effect. The desire to look young is one that many people experience, and because in Hollywood youth often equals success, many celebrities decide to go under the knife. Sadly, so many people suffer negative results despite this, cosmetic surgery industry is doing very well and doesn’t seem to be slowing down. As more people have work done, the likelihood of seeing more bad celebrity plastic surgery increases.

Those who are considering having work done should think long and hard before surgically enhancing their looks. Making sure to choose a good plastic surgeon can and will make all the difference.

Health care in industrialized countries like the United States are costly, that have made medical tourism a popular trend nowadays. People from all over the world is traveling to other countries not only as tourists who come for sightseeing but also as patients who come for medical services such as cosmetic plastic surgery.

In the Philippines, both local and foreign patients who otherwise couldn’t afford plastic surgery benefit from the highly favorable exchange rate, doctors provide lower overhead costs, as well as professional fees. These doctors offer cheap but reliable surgical options.

In the Philippines many offers medical tour packages that include a travel and hospital service that takes care of everything from airfares, accommodation, hospital costs for treatment and all transport.

Philippine medical rates can save patients 20-50 percent of what they would be charged in the US or Europe, and with these savings can afford to explore the wealth of Philippine beaches, hot springs and spa resorts on offer.

The cost savings are significant. For example, if the average U.S. surgeon’s fee for eyelid surgery is $3,500, in the Philippines, a qualified surgeon will charge only $500 to $1,000. For liposuction, surgeon’s fees in the U.S. average $2,000 per area. In the Philippines, it is around $700 for the first area and $400 for succeeding areas. Anesthesiologist’s fees and facility costs are also much lower.

Surgical failure and worries is inevitable however, the Philippines’ medical services can rival the best in the world and there are qualified and well-trained doctors who have had the formal training in plastic and reconstructive surgery, have acquired their postgraduate or training in the U.S.A. and have been mentored by leading American plastic surgeons. All equipment and technology found in the US and Europe can also be found here.

World famous for hospitality, Filipinos speak English fluently ensuring the good communication among surgeon and patient that is essential during consultation. These plastic surgeons may charge relatively affordable fees, especially if they practice in Asian countries like the Philippines, where cost of living expenses are low.

Doctors Calayan, and Vicky Belo are just two of the local famous celebrity surgeons known for giving celebrities license to look good. However, several doctors also gave the same services that these two famous doctors render, some way low than Belo and Calayan.

But like any other patient, being extra cautious is highly recommended if the cosmetic surgery provider you’re considering charges much lower than the authentic plastic surgeons. Although price is definitely a factor when considering surgery, patients seeking quality medical care at very affordable prices should know that choosing the right surgeon is the single most important decision they will make. When price is the primary factor for choosing a plastic surgeon, risks increase. The success of your surgery is largely dependent on your choice of surgeon. The doctors professional qualifications and experience should be your main consideration in selecting your plastic surgeon.

When you get plastic surgery you want people to think that you look fabulous. You don’t particularly want people to remember what you looked like before the surgery; you just want them to see the new you.

Celebrities are like that, they don’t go out in public with flat noses, crooked teeth and wrinkled faces. They want to look good and beautiful, possibly too much, like a goddess.

People’s fascination towards imperfection may have steamed the interest of plastic surgery, like celebrity plastic surgery, people have a strong interest in seeing the before and after. They want to know that someone who looks so stunning now didn’t always look that way.

That explains the popularity of plastic surgery depicting the before and after of the appearances of the stars.

They probably want to be seen as just better, updated or new version of themselves. But this isn’t so easy for them since there are pictures out there documenting all of the changes. Not to mention high school pictures, baby pictures that don’t look cute. Most of the time we don’t have good genes, so we always end up wanting change.

See some Before and After photos of celebrity who went under the knife:

Guest Post by: Mike of CosmeticSurgeryGuru.com

Breast augmentation, sometimes casually referred to as a “boob job,” is the most popular types of cosmetic surgery in the world. It is extremely common in Hollywood stars, some types of models, and is increasingly popular within the general public. Most women say that they have the surgery to improve their self-esteem and to be able to wear certain styles of clothing that require a larger bust.

There are two basic types of implants: those filled with saline (salt water) and those filled with silicone gel. Saline breast implants have a silicone shell filled with sterile saline. The silicone gel implants have a silicone shell that is filled with silicone gel. While other substances have been tried or used in the past in breast augmentation, such as soy oil and polypropylene string, even marbles and Ox bone marrow these are no longer made.

In general, patients wanting to have breast augmentation are younger than those seeking other forms of plastic surgery. Many breast augmentation patients report having great distress about their appearance in certain situations and many report having been teased about their figure. Studies have shown that women who undergo this procedure are slightly more likely to have had psychotherapy, are more likely to have low self esteem, and have higher prevalence of depression and mental illnesses such as body dysmorphia (in which a person has a drastically unrealistic view of his or her body) compared to the general population.

Post-operative studies on quality of life and mental health show improvement in a number of dimensions among breast augmentation patients including physical health, appearance, social life, self esteem, and sexual functioning. Long term studies have shown that these initial improvemebnts may be temporary, except for bodily self esteem related to sexual attractiveness.

Breast augmentation takes about two hours depending on the surgical technique and the type of implant used. In most cases, the procedure is done in a cosmetic surgery clinic, and the patient is released to go home on the same day as the surgery. The patient does, however, require someone to drive her to and from the surgery. Usually patients are able to resume normal activities in one week’s time, though patients who have had the implant placed underneath the chest muscle will take somewhat longer to recover. Overall costs for the procedure are in the $4,000 to $10,000 range.

Procedures that require you to go under the knife must be well thought-out. All important factors should be considered. It involves risk, money and time. So are you really ready for a Plastic Surgery? Find out by asking yourself these basic probing questions:

1. My looks are important to me. But what’s my purpose? Is it… just to achieve good looks, to build confidence or to be cosmetically competitive?

2. What is the main area of concern on my body?

3. What are the significant experiences in my life that have led me to consider plastic surgery as a means to improve my looks, health, and well-being?

4. How much is the cost of the Plastic Surgery Procedure in which I’m Interested? Can I afford it?

5. To address my aesthetic concerns, have I researched about my options or consulted a doctor?

6. For how long have I been considering getting plastic surgery?

7. Is my partner completely encouraging and supporting me? Or is he/she apprehensive about the procedure?

Answer these questions on your own, in a quite place where you can really be honest with yourself and be able to dig deep down inside. Be introspective and own every decision you make and every responsibility that comes with it.

When you’re sure of every word you’ve written, take your answers to your doctor for assessment.

Plastic Surgery or any surgery for that matter could be a lethal combination with long distance travel. According to The Coalition to Prevent DVT approximately 300,000 die annually of Pulmonary Embolism – a complicated form of DVT where the blood clot breaks loose and moves into the lungs, blocking the circulation to the vital organs. This is a life-threatening condition that is linked as one of the dangers of getting cosmetic surgeries offshore.

Thrombus simply means blood clot. Blood clot on deep veins is not dangerous in itself. It is when that piece of clot breaks off and travels downstream to the heart and into the pulmonary circulation system and positions in the lungs. Newly operated travelers are more at risk.

So how soon should you fly after surgery? Mark Gendreau, MD, of Tufts University School of Medicine advises patients to wait 10 to 14 days before flying if you’ve had an orthopedic, chest, abdominal, neurological, or ear, nose, and throat procedure. During the lengthy flight, stay hydrated by drinking fluids – water, please – and avoiding diuretic fluids like caffeine or alcohol. Be an opportunist and stretch your legs whenever you can. Wear compression stockings too!

Offshore operations is becoming a trend on cosmetic surgery. Thailand, China, Dominican Republic are among the many countries hosting high-end procedures for breast Augmentation, liposuction, tummy tuck, face lift, breast lift, rhinoplasty, botox and restylane. Most of these surgery packages offer lower costs on procedures plus vacations, spa treatments and wide list of adventures. Just like any other fad or programs, cosmetic surgery has pros and cons. It is always, always imperative to weigh the benefits versus the risks before you even fly out and get sliced.

If you are seriously considering getting surgery done offshore, it is practical to really make a list of your priorities. Why are you going through this at all? And for how long can you afford to be away to cover your recovery period? Because if the plan of action is not clear to you, you might just find yourself getting too stressed out travelling, take one flight after another. After a series of operation, you can’t just fly back too soon. And if you think it’s a chance to bask in the sun, explore a jungle or dive to see the corals, think again. New York City Councilman Miguel Martinez was concerned because many New York City residents have been returning home after surgery and then complaining of boils, swelling and red splotches on their skin. In Eastern Europe, two patients who just had tummy tuck found their wounds reopened after the surgery. Our bodies are natural healers but it needs a support system. And what we do after the surgery contributes to the success of the procedure itself.

There are excellent Plastic Surgeons offshore, that’s for sure. So make sure you choose the most dependable surgeon in the land because coming home with a botched surgery is not what you are after. Remedies and repairs are much more difficult on surgeries gone wrong than it would on an inborn-not-so-perfect countenance. My suggestion is: do an extensive research. Preparation is a key factor to avoid unpleasant surprises and enjoy the experience. A specific step would be, check if the doctor is a local choice of the country’s leading celebrities. Considering the country’s cost of living, is the cost impossibly cheap? Or is it competitive enough?

Check if the package suits your body and your lifestyle. Always put your medical condition in perspective. Respect your body limits. Don’t sign in for skiing, diving, extended and long flights, swimming nor exercising when you still have fresh stitches. The best package would be one that will promote healing and rejuvenation above tourism and adventure. You deserve no less than an excellent medical care so make sure your decision is well thought-out.

Demi says in Marie Claire France that all the plastic surgery rumors are “completely false.” Demi said “I’ve never had it done. I don’t like the idea of having an operation to hold up the aging process. The scalpel won’t make you happy.” So what really makes lady Demi happy?

What started to be a remedy for War-shattered faces of soldiers has now evolved into something most people are seeking after to cure unsatisfactory inborn facial features. We may used to believe that surgeries for cosmetic changes are all but for the rich and famous, just for the elite. But today cosmetic surgery moved into a wider range of market and a higher level of social acceptance. From reconstructing birth or circumstantial deformalities, the procedure has shifted now, more to conform to a person’s idea of beauty.

The Institute of cosmetic surgery toronto points out that having cosmetic surgery does not only change the person’s look but the person’s confidence as well. Any woman can freely get a nose surgery if she feels her nose does not seem to complement her other facial features. A man with droopy eyes may want to have it corrected with an eyelid surgery. Why not? Through media exposure and education, today’s society is becoming more and more open to the idea that there is nothing wrong in wanting to look as good as you feel. When you had a nose or lip done, you can freely speak of it and no one would get you wrong.

Cosmetic surgery is destined to move with the next wave. While today’s society is open to such changes, it’s important that we do not lose sight of how it should be used. Patients should have realistic and informed expectations of the process before going under the knife. Getting the best doctors with the best techniques and the best tools is the best option there is, always.
